The adamant aunt and nose ring...
I was in one of those moods when you are ready to experiment with things .. It was my wedding time...starry eyed.. 💝🌟Excited ... Self pampering time.🎁. Clothes ...jewellery .. Looking ahead at life with lots of excitement. .. Indulgent times ..
.. Was on one of those indulgent shopping visits to Aligarh..was in the Mecca of aligarh shopping arena ..( read Amir Nishan)..with a well meaning aunt who very kindly and rather too excitedly offered to help me in my shopping adventures..we were looking for the correct shade of dupatta to go with one of my dresses.. When aunt suddenly stopped near a jewellery shop .and in a halted mode all of a sudden she announced in an excited tone .. " arre ! we totally forgot to get ur nose pierced.. Bina Nath ki Bhi koi dulhan hoti hai kya... It will look so good on u..in fact will suit u a lot....chalo chalo lets get it done right away.. "... Now ! though I was quite clear on my take on this one.. But to deal with an over adamant aunt was not in my " deal with" list at all.. I nervously laughed and tried to move ahead of the jewellery shop and as farthest away as possible..to get it out of aunts mind ASAP.. But alas ! she was not a forgetting kind at all. Few mins later she was dragging me back into the same jewellery shop for the piercing ceremony.. There were quite a few females already sitting in queue for the piercing guy to do the job on them ..Aunt almost pushed me into the waiting queue and planted her heavy self on me shoving me in a corner as if to make sure in her own way that I do get it done ...by hook or crook .....feeling already like a lost soldier .. I helplessly looked around .. There were two girls ahead of me..in the piercing queue.. Both looked young to me.. I smiled at them nervously .. They smiled " doubtfully" back at me.. Both looked a bit not so sure of me.. " u getting married ?" I asked them.. One of them nodded back at me.. " me too".. I shot back at them.. U getting nose pierced ? I again queried .. and got a matter of fact nod from the girls... And then before I could realise myself what I was saying or doing .. I found myself springing up and swiftly going up to the glass wall of the shop .. Blurting out " so girls you intend to look like a bonded and domesticated animal like this lady ??!! I blurted out pointing out to a nicely nose ringed buffalo snorting and snuffing at all of us peering through the huge glass window of the shop .. ".. !! " " sorry girls no plans to get myself stamped and bonded like that lady outside ..with a nose ring around my nostrils as a stamp of being owned and taken by a master ( read man) ".. The girls in the shop in a unison turned and gave me weird looks as if not able to decide whether I have lost it all or they have heard me wrong.. But before I could blurt out a word more.. My aunt took charge of the situation and hurriedly shoved me out of the shop not allowing me to utter any more absurdities to the already " oh so shocked girls".. And like this went out all the possibility of my nose piercing .. Thankfully for my aunt , the "still in shock vanity inside the shop " and the gleeful chuckling me .. And as we stumbled out of the jewellery shop I couldn't help but whisper a silent thanks to the huge lady with the nose ring .. snorting outside the jewellery shop .. Just on right time at the right place....I winked at her while going out and muttered a soft " muah" to the huge lady busy in her usual
